Pod Beag Na Haun is idyllically situated on tidal Haun Bay with Island views to Ben Scrien and across the Sound to the hills of South Uist.
Unique, cosy and equipped to excellent standards with a separate bedroom and although it is listed as a two person pod there is also a sofa bed in the living room area with extra storage and linen. The interior is spacious and it has a decking area overlooking the sound of Eriskay. It is Eriskay's first luxury pod.
The friendly, peaceful, historic Isle of Eriskay renowned for the 1745 landing of Bonnie Prince Charlie, to reclaim the Scottish throne is marked by a simple cairn above the exceptional white sandy beach now named in his honour
According to legend the Prince scattered convolvulus seeds as a symbolic gesture which appear, as if by magic, amongst the marram grass every July and August.
The village beach at Baile, at low tide, is perfect for raking shelfish, an enjoyable pastime for many Islanders and visitors.
The Island is well-served with its excellent community shop and the Politician Pub serving fresh local seafood daily caught by Island fishermen. The restaurant is now open all year round.
It also has a famous connection. When the SS. Politician ran aground off the small Island of Calvay in 1941, the cargo of whisky was too precious to leave to the fish.
The antics of the Islanders inspired the film Whisky Galore and a bottle or two of ‘Polly Whisky’ is proudly displayed in the bar.
Leave your car at the door and traverse the whole Island easily on foot.
Reach the top of Ben Scrien, an easy climb, and on your way view Eriskay's world-renowned football pitch included in FIFA's top ten.
Enjoy the most spectacular view of all the surrounding Islands from the Cuillins of Skye to Rum, Canna and the Inner Hebrides, and on clear days St.Kilda.
The docile Eriskay Ponies, a rare breed, roam the Island and can even be spotted from your deck.
The owner, artist/photographer lives next door and is happy to provide you with any local information on any aspect of the Gaelic Culture and language spoken by the Islanders, but your privacy is always respected.
The surrounding tidal waters team with wildlife from basking seals, otters, porpoises, sea -eagles and oyster-catchers.
The island is fabulous for all water sports and fishing.
The Eriskay Causeway allows easy access to the neighbouring Islands of South Uist, Benbecula and North Uist with many cafe's, restaurants, museums and fantastic scenery to enjoy.
The car ferry to Barra can be caught at Eriskay's ferry terminal only a few minutes drive from Pod Beag.
Why not enjoy a peaceful and invigorating retreat, and experience the uniqueness of Scottish Island life.
