Finest Retreats are pleased to present Toll Bridge Cottage, a unique, characterful cottage alongside the Mawddach estuary.
Stay in the quaint toll keeper’s cottage, which oozes old world charm with amazing waterside views. The bridge was built in 1879 as a replacement for a ferry crossing and the cottage is said to have been added to around the 1900s. The cottage can sleep up to two guests, with a kitchen, dining and lounge nestled around the cosy log burner, perfect for an evening in around the fire.
There’s also a shower room, and double bedroom with striped wooden walls all around which just adds to the character and charm. Outside enjoy expansive and uninterrupted views on the terrace – the ideal place to relax, watch the local wildlife and immerse in the breath-taking scenery.
And of course, you can also watch the occasional car, bike or group of walkers go by during the day and crossing the historic bridge. The cottage is well located for visiting guests to explore the stunning scenery of the area.
The adjacent cycle track, the Mawddach trail, that used to be the old railway track is perfect for strolls as well as bikes.
Two MiRiDER e-bikes are available for hire at the cottage, so if you fancy a ride and to see the sights from a different point of view, then please contact us to book ahead of arrival. Slightly further afield is the seaside town of Barmouth that includes stunning sandy beaches, and the traditional market town of Dolgellau offering a range of artisan shops and weekly farmers market is only two miles away.
The foothills of the majestic Cadir and Idris are on the near horizon tempting you to explore their magnificence and beauty, and the beast that is Snowdonia is just a short drive away. Logs for the woodburner are not included, but you can pre-order logs at time of booking @ £6 per bag (which includes kindlin and fire lighters), or they can be purchased directly from the toll keepers. For more information and bookings please contact Finest Retreats.

Fantastic
Really loved our stay here

A great location for walks and enjoying the Mawddach estuary. The cottage was ideal - we didn't feel bothered by the bridge traffic (which stops from early evening through to the morning), and the accommodation felt very private. Through the week the team of toll-keepers were very friendly and chatty. We hope to come again.
Wonderful place

Pretty much everything. Well designed layout, warm and cosy. Bed was super comfy. The outdoor seating area was great with fantastic views across the estuary. Toll bridge staff were lovely and friendly. Can't wait to return.
