The surroundings offer many opportunities for lovely walking and cycling trips through the impressive dunes, bulb fields and villages along the beautiful North Sea coast. Via the dunes, you can go on to the cosy tourist places Callantsoog, Groet and Schoorl. Alkmaar, with its famous cheese market, is also well worth a visit. From the nearby port of Den Helder, the ferry leaves for the island of Texel for a lovely day out.
