L'Horto is a former family market-garden farm acquired around 1920.

It is ideally located for visiting Carcassonne on foot: the Canal du Midi, the Cité de Carcassonne, the Bastide Saint-Louis (the heart of the town), with all its shops and entertainment, and the banks of the River Aude for lovely walks or cycle rides. To cool off in the summer months, an aqualudic complex with swimming pool and balneotherapy area is just a 3-minute walk away.

There are plenty of attractions nearby, including the Montagne Noire, where you can discover the Canal du Midi's ingenious water supply system, the book village of Montolieu, Castelnaudary and its cassoulet, Limoux and its sparkling wines, the châteaux of the Cathar region such as Saissac and Lastours, the dinosaur museum at Espéraza, the sea is less than an hour away, and Corbières and Minervois are close by.

You'll enjoy a stay in the countryside while still being in Carcassonne. The 4,000 m² wooded garden is open to you, with ewes, chickens, miniature pigs, dogs and cats. There is a private terrace with garden furniture and a griddle for enjoying your meals or relaxing after a day's sightseeing. The property is fenced with an electric gate, parking is in front of the gite in the courtyard, and the farm's old pigsty is your bike room if required.

The stone, double-glazed gite does not have air conditioning, but the rooms are equipped with fans.
Your entrance is via a veranda, with a separate WC next door.
- On the ground floor: a living room with a dining table, a sitting area with sofa, armchairs and TV. A separate fully-equipped kitchen.
- Upstairs: two bedrooms furnished in the 1930s and 1970s style with TV and double bed (140cm) for 2x2 people and a separate shared bathroom (shower, washbasin and WC).
Pets are welcome and must live with us.
