About the host
Coming from an artistic background I’d love to provide you with the best tips for sights nearby and photo opportunities. You can rely on me for the best vintage addresses as well, from cosy shops, to goodwill ,to flea markets.
About the studio
The building, which has been designed by architect Ernest Groosman, dates from 1958, when the ’ Coöperatieve boerenleenbank ‘ resided there with an adjacent residential house for the bank official. There is a spacious studio(69m2) in the former bank area which has been tastefully decorated with a nod to the history of the building.
Don’t let the vintage interior fool you! The fully equipped ‘De bank van Nagele’ has everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The spacious studio has a private entrance with a hall, luxurious bathroom, nice dining table and well equipped kitchen. In the sleeping area, which is separated from the rest of the studio by a retro room divider, you’ll find an adjustable double bed for ultimate comfort. The recently built bathroom has a warm vintage look and contains, apart from a sink and toilet a walk-in shower and bathtub. An air conditioning to heat or cool provides extra comfort throughout your stay. (On top of that, expected mid 2025 with private garden with terrace)
Start your stay with a fresh cup of coffee, use the combi oven for a simple casserole to warm up after visiting one of the many sights and chat over a dessert in the dining area. Curl up in the nice seating area with smart tv afterwards , read one of the provided brochures or books about surroundings or take a soak in the bathtub after you dimmed the lights for extra relaxation.
Mid 2025 we expect ‘De bank van Nagele’ to have a private garden with terrace to enjoy your cuppa when the weather is good.
About the neighbourhood
The studio is situated in ‘a New Village on New Land’ Nagele. This vast, quiet village, designed by the Dutch architectural avant-garde, is situated on the reclaimed land Noordoostpolder, once planned by engineer Lely. The modernist hamlet with its communal courtyards is almost a museum in itself.
Beyond that ,the possibilities are numerous as well.
-Visit Museum Nagele and Museumhuis Polman, in walking distance.
-Get fascinated by the nearby Unesco Heritage site, the former island of Schokland.
-Enjoy the catch of the day in the historic fishing village of Urk.
-Experience the Tulip festival in the largest tulip area of the Netherlands.
-Visit one of the medieval Hanseatic cities.
-Get active and rent a bike for an amazing cycling route or go on a hike.
-Score your designer bag for less at the Bataviastad Fashion Outlet.
-Spot tons of mushrooms in Kraggenburg.
-Discover Friesland, famous for it’s lakes, speed skaters and it’s Thialf.
-Take a canal cruise in Giethoorn.
