Why is my payment failing

Payment failures can occur for several reasons across different booking platforms. Below, we've outlined the most common issues and solutions for Holidu, Airbnb, and Booking.com.

Payment issues on Holidu

If your payment is failing on Holidu, it might be due to one of the following reasons:

Payment Authentication Issue

You must authorize the payment in your banking app or enter a code, TAN, or PIN sent by your bank via text message or phone call.

Insufficient funds

Ensure that your account has enough balance to cover the payment amount.

Withdrawal amount exceeded

Your bank may have set daily, weekly, or monthly spending limits. Check your banking app or contact your bank for details.

Payment Method Supported

Please ensure you are using a valid payment method. Holidu currently accepts:

  • Credit Card
  • PayPal
  • iDeal (The Netherlands)
  • Klarna (Austria, Germany, and The Netherlands)
  • Sofort

Invalid or Declined Card Details

Common issues include:

  • Incorrect CVC number or invalid CVC length
  • Invalid or expired card number
  • Blocked or restricted card (your bank may have declined the transaction for security reasons)
  • Cancelled card (check with your bank to confirm its status)

Too many failed attempts

If you have made 5 or more unsuccessful payment attempts, further transactions may be temporarily blocked. Please wait 1-2 hours before trying again. If the issue persists, we recommend checking with your bank or using an alternative payment method.

Payment issues on Airbnb

Airbnb manages all payments directly. If you are experiencing payment processing issues, please reach out to Airbnb customer service via chat for further assistance.

You might find helpful information in their support section on why your payment is getting declined or isn't working.

Payment issues on Booking.com

If you're experiencing issues with your payment on Booking.com, the next steps depend on the payment option you selected when booking.

If you chose "Pay Now"

Your payment is fully managed by Booking.com, and we do not have access to your payment details. We recommend reaching out to Booking.com's customer service via chat or phone to understand why your payment is failing.

If you selected "Pay On"

Holidu is responsible for processing your payment. If your payment is failing, it might be for one of the following reasons:

Payment Authentication Issue

You must authorize the payment via the secure payment link sent to your email. This may require confirmation in your banking app or entering a code, TAN, or PIN sent by your bank via text message or phone call.

Insufficient funds

Ensure that your account has enough balance to cover the payment amount.

Withdrawal amount exceeded

Your bank may have set daily, weekly, or monthly spending limits. Check your banking app or contact your bank for details.

What should I do next?

If you've verified that your payment method is supported and your account has sufficient funds, but your payment is still failing, we recommend contacting your bank directly. They can confirm whether your card has been blocked or restricted and help resolve any security concerns. If you continue to experience issues, don't hesitate to reach out to customer support for the platform where you're booking.
