Online Check-in - Statistical Reporting in Italy – A Simple Guide for Hosts

Important Notice (Updated October 2025)

Statistical reporting requirements in Italy remain mandatory for all accommodation providers. This guide provides the latest information on how to comply with Italian statistical reporting obligations through Holidu's integrated system. Make sure to review your local provincial requirements, as regulations may vary by region.

What is Statistical Reporting?

In Italy, all accommodation providers are legally required to submit monthly statistical reports to the authorities. These reports help track tourism trends at both national and local levels, allowing governments and local administrations to plan tourism more effectively.

Even if your property was closed or had no guests during the month, you are still required to submit the report. This ensures accurate data collection for national tourism statistics.

For more detailed information about Italian statistical reporting requirements, refer to the ISTAT Reporting Guidelines.

What Information is Required?

Each month, hosts must report the following details about their property and guests:

  • Property name: The official name of your accommodation
  • Property type: Such as hotel, bed and breakfast, holiday home, or apartment
  • Days open or closed: A property is considered open if it was available for at least one day in the month. It is considered closed only if it remained closed for the entire month
  • Total available rooms: The number of rooms available for that month
  • Total available beds: The total number of beds available for that month
  • Total number of guests: The number of guests checked in during that month
  • Guest nationalities: The countries of origin of your guests. If guests are Italian, the province where they reside must also be reported
  • Total number of occupied nights: The sum of all nights booked during the month

How Do Hosts Get Credentials?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where hosts must register to obtain their credentials. The registration process may vary depending on the local authority, but generally, hosts will need to follow these steps:

  1. Identify the correct regional portal based on the property's location. Each province maintains its own system
  2. Register as an accommodation provider on the portal with your property details
  3. Receive login credentials (username and password) to access the reporting system
  4. Use these credentials to submit monthly statistical reports

If you are unsure where to register, check with your local municipality or tourism office for guidance on the correct provincial portal.

How to Submit the Report?

Each province in Italy has its own regional portal where accommodation providers must submit their data. However, you don't need to handle this manually if you use Holidu.

Automatic Reporting Through Holidu

To make this process easier, Holidu offers an automatic statistical reporting feature as part of its regulatory support for the Italian market. Once connected, the required data is sent automatically, so you can spend less time on manual submissions and focus on managing your property.

How to Enable Automatic Reporting

Connect your statistics account in Holidu, and the integration takes care of the recurring submissions on your behalf.

Automatic Reporting for Empty Periods

The Holidu ISTAT integration also reports to ISTAT when there are no guests during a given month, supporting your compliance with reporting requirements even when your property is unoccupied. This ensures you remain compliant without requiring any action on your part.

How to Connect Your Property to Statistics Reporting

Follow these simple steps to enable automatic statistical reporting for your property:

  1. Log into your Holidu account and navigate to the Statistics Connection section
  2. Set up the integration with your regional statistics account to automate guest reporting
  3. Enter your credentials from the provincial portal where you registered
  4. Click on Validate to verify the connection
  5. Click Save changes to confirm the setup

Once the integration is active, your monthly reports will be automatically submitted to the Italian authorities. You can monitor the status of your submissions directly from your Holidu dashboard.
