What are the Host Responsibilities?

As a host, you play a key role in giving your guests a great stay. Here is how you can make the most of hosting with Holidu.

Booking Guidelines

Your Role and Responsibilities

You are not just hosting a property; you are providing an experience. The booking contract is between you and the guest, with Holidu acting as an intermediary. You, or a designated person, should be reachable during your guests' stay either directly or through someone in charge.

Smooth Arrival Communication

For a more personal experience, get in touch with your guests early about arrival expectations. Communicate details such as estimated arrival time, how to collect keys, and any house rules. This sets a positive tone for their stay and reduces misunderstandings.

Be There for Your Guests

Be ready to help during your guests' stay. If issues come up at the property, respond quickly so their stay stays stress-free. Quick and attentive responses create positive experiences and encourage favorable reviews.

Avoid Host Cancellations

Cancellations disrupt plans for both hosts and guests. They can impact your property's performance and may lead to penalties. Aim to avoid cancellations whenever possible to maintain your reputation and booking rate.

Providing Receipts and Invoices

If a guest requests a receipt or invoice, provide one showing the total amount paid. You can use Holidu's tool to issue an invoice for a guest. Please note that Holidu only provides guests with a booking confirmation. Your invoice, provided by Holidu, is an individual fiscal document and should not be shared with guests through Holidu.

Account Configuration Guidelines

Your Control and Responsibility

Final responsibility for the accuracy of your configuration belongs to you, the host. Holidu's local teams are happy to guide and assist you, but remember that Holidu is not responsible for keeping your property's information and settings up to date. It is your duty to ensure all details are current and accurate.

Updating Account Settings

Everything configurable in your account can be updated by you easily and quickly. Take advantage of these tools to keep your listing competitive and relevant to potential guests.

Calendar Management

To prevent double bookings, keep your calendar accurate and up to date. As the host, you set your availability. If your property becomes unavailable due to renovations, maintenance, or private bookings, block those dates right away. A current calendar makes for a smooth experience for you and your guests.

Modifying Property Details

If you change amenities, sleeping arrangements, or other configurable settings, update the description text promptly. You can learn more about how to generate your property description. Whenever critical information changes, such as a pool or Wi-Fi no longer being available or bedroom configuration changes, it is your responsibility to inform future guests with affected bookings. Holidu only steps in for very urgent cases, such as when the check-in date is extremely close.

Keeping Rates Updated

Update your nightly rate, minimum stay, and extra fees in good time for upcoming seasons. Guests like to plan their holidays in advance, so seasonal pricing updates help attract bookings. Important: Once a booking is confirmed, the booking price can no longer be changed.
