Guest reviews are essential to your success as a host on Holidu. They help future guests make informed decisions and build trust in your property. This guide explains everything you need to know about reviews, how they work, and how to manage them effectively.
Understanding Reviews on Holidu
How Does the Rating System Work?
Guests rate their stays on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest. Your overall property rating is calculated as the average of all scores received. Guests can provide detailed ratings in specific categories including location, cleanliness, description accuracy, and value for money. They may also leave written comments about their experience.
Who Can Leave Reviews?
Reviews can come from two sources:
- Guests who booked directly through Holidu after their stay is completed
- Guests who booked via connected platforms such as Airbnb, Vrbo, or Booking.com, following each platform's review guidelines

Managing Your Reviews
Where Can You Access Your Reviews?
To view all your reviews:
- Log in to your Holidu Host account
- Navigate to Properties
- Open Configuration, then Reviews
Reviews typically appear within 14 days of the guest's stay. On Holidu, you'll see the overall score and full review text for direct bookings. Reviews from partner platforms display according to each channel's rules.
How Are Reviews Displayed?
Reviews appear based on these guidelines:
- Reviews are sorted primarily by booking date
- Reviews with written comments are prioritized
- Negative reviews only display if your property has at least two reviews total
- Reviews may show reviewer location and group type
Review Standards and Compliance
What Reviews Are Allowed?
We display all legitimate reviews—positive and negative—that meet our standards. Acceptable reviews must be truthful, travel-related, helpful to other guests, and written by the actual guest who stayed.
Reviews That Violate Our Guidelines
The following content is not permitted in reviews:
- References to illegal activity
- Politically or religiously sensitive content
- Promotional material or external links
- Personal details such as names, contact information, or payment details
- Profanity, hate speech, threats, or sexual content
- Spam, fake reviews, or impersonation

Can You Delete or Edit Reviews?
Review editing and deletion depend on your booking channel:
- Holidu bookings: Reviews cannot be modified. Contact our team to delete a review and send the guest a new link.
- Booking.com: Guests can edit reviews anytime from their account until automatic deletion after 2 years. Guests must contact Booking.com directly.
- Airbnb: Guests can only edit reviews before publication. Guests must contact Airbnb directly.
- Vrbo: Guests must contact Vrbo directly to edit or delete their review.

Responding to Reviews
Depending on your booking platform, you may have the option to respond publicly to guest reviews. This is your chance to thank guests for positive feedback, address concerns, or provide context for future guests.

Special Situations: Manual Bookings
Manual bookings—reservations entered directly by you or your property manager—may not trigger automatic review requests. This means:
- You may need to manually request reviews from these guests
- Reviews can still count toward your overall rating once submitted
- Keep clear records to ensure no reviews are missed
Tip: Maintain a record of manual bookings and proactively ask guests to leave feedback about their stay.
