The whole world stops for Carnival! Join the locals and enjoy this particular festival in February, that they have been preparing since November. You can also try navigating just for a few metres in pitch dark, putting one hand on the wall and the other hand on the shoulder of the person in front of you. Scary or daring? Come and experience it yourself!

4. Enjoy the Christmas atmosphere

Like many other European countries, Maastricht is taken over by the Christmas festive spirit and in December every year, there is a Christmas Market set up in Vrijthof Square.
